# Restframe Software

> Restframe Software is a one-person software company run by Andreas Kern in Fahrenzhausen, Bavaria, Germany. It develops simulation and engineering software. Its first product is ZeroCAD, a parametric 3D CAD program for mechanical parts with its own exact B-rep geometry kernel written in Rust. ZeroCAD isn't out yet: a small tester round comes first, and there is no release date and no price yet.

Key facts:

- ZeroCAD runs on Windows, renders on the GPU (DirectX 12, Vulkan) and works offline without an account or telemetry.
- The geometry kernel is ZeroCAD's own; off-the-shelf kernels such as Open CASCADE are not used.
- Formats: STEP AP242/AP214 (read and write), AP203 (read), STL, 3MF, drawings as PDF and DXF.
- Principle: accuracy before performance. Measured, saved and exported values are exact or within a measured error bound.
